How to play Age of Empires in GameSpy Comrade

Once logged in to GameSpy Comrade, go to the Games tab at the button of the interface. Click on it to display a list of games you have installed in your pc. You should see Age of Empires in this list.
If AoE does not show in the list, go to Actions at top and click on Options or press Ctrl+O on your keyboard to go there directly. Then go to Games and you can either Scan for Newly Installed Games or search for the executable file by clicking on Browse.

If the game does not appear after you "scan for newly installed games" you will have to browse to the executable file on your computer manually.
To do this you need to know where on your computer you installed the game. The default path for windows XP is c:\program files\Age of Empires. However, you may have installed to another location on your PC. You will have to locate the executable file empires2.exe and select that to play online via Comrade.
When it is found it will appear as Installed in the status, then you are ready to play.

Now that you see the game you can play it by clicking on Launch. If you mouse-over the game you will see tree more options appear.

One of these is a trading card and if you click on it, it will display a few details about your play history for Age of Empires. Such as how many times have you played the game and for how long. It will also show options like Compete or Game Files.
If you click on Compete it will lead you to GameSpy Arena where you will be able to see all the current ladders that are for that particular game.
Game Files will help you to find the required patches and updates as well as maps and other utilities that are hosted on FilePlanet that relate to Age of Empires.
For AoE series, the patches can also be found at:
