Connecting to Battlefield 2 via GameSpy Comrade.

This workshop will teach you how to connect to Battlefield 2 online via GameSpy Comrade. First of you must have GameSpy Comrade up and running. Secondly you have to make sure your GameSpy Comrade is linked to your Battlefield 2 account. Lets start with configuring GameSpy Comrade; go to Action and select Options:

After that you click Games and select the game Battlefield 2 from the list. Now you need to add some Additional command line arguments as you can see on the picture bellow. You have to replace the NAME and PASSWORD with your Battlefield 2 name (without clan tag if you have.) and the password for the account to login.

Next you want to click on Games like shown here in example 1 to bring up the list of games you have installed. The list of games will appear like here in example 2.

Now once you have Battlefeild 2 found and highlighted, you can click on the Info icon or the Smart Match icon to play online.

The Smart Match feature is mainly a server filter. It brings up a list of servers after you have put in what type of game from maps, players, ping, and even game version. Here is an example of what it looks like below. By clicking the Modify search button you can change the filters.

After you changed the filter to what you like simply hit the Search button at the right bottom, select a server and join!
If you are having any problems connecting online you might want to consider the fact of a firewall or router blocking you access to your online gaming. There is a quick fix to this, a firewall guide can be found here
Now if you have a router, you will need to enter ports for the game which can be found here. Just find your router name and then the game (Battlefield 2). It will give you the ports you need for your router.
If you have done these steps correctly, then you should be able to play with no problem.
