A walk through of GameSpy Comrade.

Welcome to GameSpy Comrade. Hopefully by the end of this short walk through you will be able to get started and have an enjoyable time on Comrade.

What is GameSpy Comrade?

Comrade is IGN's next generation gaming software. You will be able to play over 500 different PC games and demo's, and send instant messages to fellow comrades.

Hopefully you will have Comrade installed, if not head over to http://comrade.gamespy.com/download/ and download your copy now. Once download is complete double click the installer icon and follow the on screen instructions.

Now that Comrade is installed you will need to start the program. If you have got a GameSpy Arcade, FilePlanet, or any other IGN/GameSpy Account, you will need the your email address and password.

If you haven't got a IGN/GameSpy account don't worry as you will have the option to create a new account and instructions to help you Register a new account.

Time to login. Enter the email address you have setup with IGN/GameSpy and click next, now enter your password and click next. You should now be able to see your profile(s), choose the one you want to use for Comrade and click finish.

Buddy Sync is just one of many features Comrade has to offer. The buddy sync screen explains all about it and its up to you if you do it or not. The next screen shows you what games you can play on Comrade that you have installed on your PC. Hit next and your done with setting up Comrade.

You have now got Comrade setup and are ready to move on to how to use Comrade and some take a look at some of the other cool features.

Launching games Using GameSpy Comrade.

To launch a game using Comrade, you need to first select the Green games tab at the bottom of the Comrade window. You should now be able to the the games Installed on your PC and the most played games. Once you have found your game hit the launch button and your game will start.

How to follow a Comrade into a game.

Open your Comrades list by clicking on the green bar named Comrades. Find your friend on the list and click there link by there name. Your game will launch, and if your join to a dedicated server you will be joined on to that server. You can even follow your friends into Arcade game lobby's and play from there.

PLAYNOW! Button

The PLAYNOW! Button is Comrades lucky pick feature. Click on the 'Games' tab and luanch your game, click the PlayNow! Button. (Will appear as the second button from the left if SmartMatch is enabled)

Ambassadors

Ambassadors appear at the top of your buddy's list and are your direct connection to the teams that bring you your games, game websites an Comrade. Add more Ambassadors and get the latest news about your game updates, file releases and much more. Check out other Ambassadors you can add here: http://comrade.gamespy.com/ambassadors/Default.aspx

Following buddys

One click buddy following allows you to follow Comrades into games and servers with just one click. All you have to do is click the link to were you want to go.

Sending messages to buddys.

Once you have made friends on Comrade there are three ways you can contact them. Click "send message" envelope button which can be found as the first button to the left.
