A lot of information regarding OpenGL Error and how to fix it.

An openGL error means that your graphics card is having trouble working with openGL. Please note you should make sure the graphics hardware and the drivers that you have in your computer support openGL. You can do this by looking at the specs of your graphics card on its box if you still have it or going to the manufacture's website. This workshop will take you through some steps you can take to configure your card to work with openGL, and point you in the right direction to download driver updates. Something else to consider is that duel monitor set ups can cause openGL errors. Try temporarily disabling the second monitor while your playing the game and see if that fixes your error first.
To do this use the following steps:
1. On your desktop right click and then select Properties.
2. Follow that by a click on the Settings Tab.
3. You will see a one and a two box. Click on the two box so that it highlights.
4. There is a little box next to the words Extend my Windows Desktop onto this montor. Uncheck that box.
5. Click apply and then OK.
6. Try your game again and if the duel monitor was your problem then you should be able to play.
If you do not have dual monitors, and you are unsure what if your video card supports OpenGL here are the steps to determine what your video card is, and if it qualifies for OpenGL support:
One of the first things you need to know is what kind of video card you have and if it meets the requirements for the game you want to play. Most video cards need to be at least 16 MB with support for openGL. Here is how you can determine what video card you have if you dont know already:
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. In the box that comes up type the letters DXDIAG then click OK. This will bring up a program called the DirectX Diagnostics Tool.
4. The program will take a moment to load after it is fully loaded click on the Display tab. You will see in the Device section the name of your video card as well as the manufacturer. It is a good idea to take a moment to write down this information as you may need it later.

1. Take a look at the line labeled Approximate Total Memory. Note if the amount shown there is less than 16 MB your video card can not support openGL and will not be able to run games that are 3D graphically enhanced.
In addition to disabling dual monitors and checking that your video card can support openGL, you also should take some time to make sure you are running the most current video card drivers. Not having updated video card drives can cause all kinds of nasty issues while trying to game, especially if it is a newer game.
The most common video card websites are nVidia, ATI and Intel. If you need to know where these websites are specifically read over your video cards documentation usually found on the driver DVC/CD that came with it. If your video card came with your computer, and you have not upgraded it you can download the latest drivers from the computer manufactures website, this is usually found in the online documentation installed on the computer by the manufacture. Worse case, call them and ask for assistance, theyll gladly help you.
Also in addition to the video card drives, make sure you have the latest DirectX runtime. Most games come with the version they require on the instillation CDs/DVDs. If you have downloaded a demo, and it does not come with a DirectX runtime installer, you can go to Microsofts website and download the latest DirectX run time.
